However, while many Muslims across India were unable to see the Shawaal crescent moon on Tuesday, Jammu-Kashmir and Kerala reported moon sighting today.

Consequently, these two states will observe Eid on April 10, with Leh also joining in the celebration on the same day.

The remainder of India will mark the festival on April 11, allowing Muslims in other regions an additional day of Ramadan fasting.

Eid-ul-Fitr, occurring on the first day of Shawwal in the Islamic lunar calendar, follows the sighting of the new moon or crescent moon.

It stands as a significant Islamic festival, with “Eid” symbolizing “celebration” and “Fitr” representing the “breaking of the fast.”

While Muslims worldwide observe this festival, its precise date varies each year due to Islam’s adherence to a lunar calendar, dependent on the new moon sighting.

This year, Ramadan is anticipated to conclude on either Tuesday, April 09, or Wednesday, April 10, 2024, across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Australia, Singapore, and other regions, as the crescent moon was sighted in some areas while remaining invisible in the majority of Indian states..
