Guwahati, March 24: Under the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma and GP Singh, Assam has witnessed a remarkable increase in its conviction rate, soaring from 6 percent in 2021 to 22 percent currently.

On March 24, Assam Police shared insightful data highlighting this positive trend. Assam DGP GP Singh took to X to share the encouraging statistics, revealing that the state’s conviction rate now stands at an impressive 21.65 percent.

During the monthly State Crime review for Assam held on February 22, 2024, various law enforcement officials including Assam CID Range Officers, district SPs, and ASP Crime participated.

The discussions showcased the collective efforts driving this surge in the conviction rate.

The data shared by Assam Police also provided a comprehensive overview of the number of cases convicted from 2018 to 2023.

In 2022, Assam witnessed 4,642 cases being convicted, marking a substantial increase from the previous year.

The trend continued in 2023, with the number of convicted cases rising further to 4,835.

The significant improvement in the conviction rate is evident when comparing the data from previous years.

In 2022, Assam’s conviction rate stood at 13.11 percent, reflecting a notable enhancement compared to the mere 5.60 percent recorded in 2021.
