Guwahati, April 24: Amidst controversy, Congress leader Sibamoni Bora’s statement urging voters to defeat Pradyut Bordoloi in the Lok Sabha polls has sparked debate.
However, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah downplayed the issue, attributing it to a mere slip of the tongue.
Borah clarified that there was no malicious intent behind Bora’s statement and labeled it as a human error. He emphasized that it was not reflective of the party’s official stance and asserted that Bora’s intentions were misconstrued.
The incident occurred during an election rally where Sibamoni Bora inadvertently called for the defeat of MP Pradyut Bordoloi in the Nagaon LS seat.
This slip of the tongue has led to speculation about the party’s internal cohesion and strategic planning for the upcoming elections.

During the rally, Bora stated, “In Nagaon Lok Sabha seat, we will ensure that Congress MP candidate Pradyut Bordoloi loses the election by a significant margin… I urge everyone to tell me if you can do it or not.”
She further urged people to press the Congress button multiple times on the EVM machine on April 26, aiming to secure a massive defeat for Pradyut Bordoloi, the incumbent MP and current candidate for Nagaon.
