1. Monarch Laishram, a staffer from the SBI Bishnupur branch in Manipur, was apprehended in North Delhi.

Imphal, April 06: A staffer from the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Bishnupur, Manipur, identified as Monarch Laishram, was apprehended in North Delhi on Friday for allegedly absconding with approximately Rs 2 crore from the bank’s locker.
Delhi Crime Branch, in collaboration with Delhi Police and Bishnupur District police, captured Monarch Laishram, 41, at Patel Chest Christian Colony, opposite Maurice Nagar Police Station, North Delhi, around 5:30 pm.
According to police reports, Monarch Laishram, the son of Laishram Chaoba from Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai under Nambol police station, will be brought back to Manipur by a team from the Bishnupur District police on Saturday, likely by air.

The complaint filed by the SBI Bishnupur Branch at Nambol Police Station, lodged by its branch manager, stated that Monarch, a senior assistant at the branch, had been unresponsive to office calls since April 2 without prior notice.
Further investigation revealed that Monarch had access to the key to the bank’s locker room. Upon inspection by bank staff, it was discovered that approximately Rs 2 crore was missing from the locker room.
Subsequently, state police initiated efforts to locate Monarch.
