Weather Forcast, April 06: Northeast India is set to experience heightened rainfall and thunderstorm activity until April 9, according to the latest forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Regions including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are expected to witness widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning due to cyclonic circulations over north Bangladesh and east Assam.

Isolated heavy rainfall or snowfall is anticipated over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, with possibilities of hailstorm activity in certain areas.

Heatwave Warning in Eastern and Peninsular India

Parts of eastern and peninsular India are bracing for the onset of heatwave conditions over the next two days, particularly in isolated pockets.

The affected regions include Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, North Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, and Telangana.

Warm night conditions are also expected to prevail in isolated pockets over Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Marathwada, and North Interior Karnataka.

Hot and humid weather is forecasted to persist over Kerala & Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan & Goa, and Telangana during specific periods.

Light Rainfall and Snowfall Predictions

Under the influence of Western Disturbance, certain regions are likely to experience isolated light rainfall or snowfall.

Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh are expected to witness such precipitation events on specific dates throughout the week. Rajasthan is also anticipated to receive isolated light to moderate rainfall on specific days.

Impact of Weather Phenomena

A trough or wind discontinuity extending from East Vidarbha to the Comorin area across interior Karnataka and interior Tamil Nadu is expected to trigger isolated rainfall events in various states including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam.

IMD’s Advisory

The India Meteorological Department advises residents in the affected regions to stay updated with weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to mitigate the impact of adverse weather conditions.
