Kolkata, March 08: BJP youth wing leader, Pamela Goswami, has taken legal action against the Mamata Banerjee government by filing a Writ Petition and Defamation suit in the Supreme Court of India.

This move comes after she was discharged from all charges by the Supreme Court, Calcutta High Court, and the trial court.

Goswami, recognized for her dedication to inclusive policies and grassroots connections, seeks compensation for her unlawful detention. Her petition was filed through Senior Advocate Jagdish Chandra Solanki.

The legal battle revolves around her wrongful implication in criminal proceedings under NDPS Case No. 17 of 2021, despite evidence in the chargesheet indicating framing.

The Calcutta High Court discharged her from the NDPS matter on March 16, 2023.

Subsequently, the State of West Bengal challenged her discharge by filing an SLP (Crl.) Diary no. 1728/24, which the Supreme Court upheld.

In her statement, Goswami emphasized, “The Mamata Banerjee government has persistently targeted BJP leaders and workers. I have been a victim of their agenda and conspiracy. This lawsuit is not just about my ordeal but also about numerous others from the BJP who have faced similar persecution. I have consistently upheld the truth, and I have proven that I was framed. It took two years of my life, and my reputation was tarnished.”

Goswami’s legal triumph underscores her resilience and raises concerns about the alleged misuse of governmental power against political dissenters.
