Imphal, March 08: A serving Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army was abducted from his residence in Manipur’s Thoubal district by unidentified individuals on Friday, according to officials.

The abducted officer, identified as Konsam Kheda Singh and a resident of Charangpat Mamang Leikai, was on leave when the incident occurred at around 9 am. The perpetrators forcefully entered his home, took him away in a vehicle, and fled the scene.

While the motive behind the abduction remains unclear, initial reports suggest that it could be related to extortion, as the officer’s family had previously received threats of such nature.

Upon receiving the news, all security agencies immediately launched a coordinated search operation to locate and rescue the abducted JCO. As part of the efforts, thorough checks of all vehicles traveling on National Highway 102 are currently underway.
