During the 45th National Arm Wrestling Championship at the Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Stadium (SKIS) in Srinagar on May 28, 2023, history was made. The 45-member Arunachal Pradesh team excelled, securing an impressive tally of 32 medals: 5 gold, 9 silver, and 18 bronze.
Pakjar Taipodia, Sang Bodung, Katu Yomcha, and Ibi Lollen were among the star performers. Taipodia, particularly, stood out with two gold medals and one silver in the Masters and Grand Masters 80 kg category, showcasing exceptional skill.

Sang Bodung demonstrated remarkable talent, securing gold, silver, and bronze medals in the 60 kg youth boys’ category, underscoring the depth of talent within the Arunachal Pradesh team.
Gejom Padu, Tuge Ame, Laiphu Joham, Toluk Bagra, Kiyir Riba, Yiter Basar Riddi, and Jumbom Lollen Ngomdir clinched silver medals, contributing significantly to the team’s overall success in their respective weight categories.
