Shillong, Sept 09: Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya successfully foiled attempts to smuggle cattle and sugar across the Indo-Bangla border, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining border security and curbing illegal activities.

Following a tip-off, BSF teams from the 4th and 193rd Battalions in Meghalaya intercepted a group of smugglers attempting to transport 96 cattle from India to Bangladesh. When confronted by BSF personnel, the smugglers fled, leaving the cattle behind. This operation highlights the BSF’s vigilance in preventing cattle smuggling.

In a separate operation, the 43rd Battalion of BSF Meghalaya, in collaboration with Meghalaya Police, intercepted a vehicle near the Rongra border area. The vehicle was loaded with a significant quantity of sugar intended for smuggling into Bangladesh from South Garo Hills, Meghalaya. The driver of the seized vehicle was apprehended as he could not provide a valid justification for the sugar consignment.

The apprehended individual and the confiscated items were handed over to the local police station for further legal action. These actions demonstrate the BSF’s dedication to combating smuggling and maintaining border security in Meghalaya.
