1. A bus transporting CRPF personnel was allegedly set ablaze by a mob in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on June 17 at 8:30 pm.
2. The bus, belonging to the Meitei community, was stopped and set on fire at Kangpokpi Bazar while en route from DC Kangpokpi to Kangpokpi Police Station.
3. The incident occurred a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced plans to initiate discussions with the Meitei and Kuki communities to address ongoing ethnic tensions in Manipur.
Imphal, June 19: A bus transporting CRPF personnel was allegedly set ablaze by a mob in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district around 8:30 pm on June 17.
The incident occurred just a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced plans to initiate discussions with both the Meitei and Kuki communities to address ongoing ethnic tensions in Manipur.
Sources indicate that the bus, which belonged to the Meitei community and was hired to transport CRPF personnel, was traveling from DC Kangpokpi to Kangpokpi Police Station when it was stopped by the mob at Kangpokpi Bazar and set on fire.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police officials rushed to the scene. However, the mob blocked the road, preventing the police from reaching the location in time to save the vehicle.
Later, police officials successfully dispersed the agitated mob without any reported injuries.
