Ranchi, Feb 02: Champai Soren assumed the position of Chief Minister of Jharkhand on Friday, succeeding Hemant Soren, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a land scam.

The veteran leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) took the oath along with Alamgir Alan from the Congress and Satyanand Bhogta from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), who also were sworn in as ministers.

Facing a significant challenge, Champai Soren will undergo a massive floor test to establish his majority within the next 10 days.

The JMM leader expressed confidence, stating that 43 MLAs are in support of their cause. This development marks a critical transition in Jharkhand’s political landscape following the legal proceedings against the former Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
