The decision comes after Surve’s controversial suspension of head constable Siamlalpaul in February, who was allegedly seen with armed miscreants in a viral video.

The suspension led to unrest in Churachandpur district, resulting in two fatalities from firing by security forces.

Additionally, the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum demanded Surve’s departure from the district within 24 hours.
