Manipur, April 8: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Thursday reviewed the construction process and functional management of the Churachandpur Medical College.
Union home minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of the new medical college virtually while on his visit to Manipur in December last year.
The Churachandpur Medical College is being constructed by upgrading the existing district hospital in the Chaurachandrapur.
It will be constructed over an area of 25 acres and will be equipped with the latest health facilities for advanced treatment.
The medical college will have 100 seats for MBBS students.
The Centre has already sanctioned an amount of Rs 325 crores for the new college.
The other two medical colleges in the state are the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) at Lamphelpat in Imphal West district and the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal city.
Moreover, the Manipur government has also submitted the proposal to open two more medical colleges in Thoubal and Chandel districts before the Centre.

The medical college in Thoubal will be created by developing the existing district hospital.
