New Delhi, Jan 29: Acharya Pramod Krishnam, a prominent Congress leader, voiced his disapproval of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, dismissing it as “political tourism” and suggesting that the party is not adequately preparing for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

In a sharp critique on Monday, Krishnam remarked on the contrasting approaches between the Congress and other political parties who are actively gearing up for the 2024 elections.

He characterized the Congress activities as mere “travelling” and expressed concerns that the party seems more focused on the 2029 elections than the imminent 2024 polls.

Krishnam asserted, “Congress party has some very great and intelligent leaders. While on the one hand, all political parties are gearing up for the 2024 elections, on the other hand, the whole Congress party is doing political tourism; they are traveling. We will figure out how to win the 2024 elections after 2024. It seems we are preparing ourselves for the 2029 elections. Had we been preparing for 2024, this would not have happened.”

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, initiated on January 14 from Manipur, is currently progressing through Bihar.

The Yatra has gained attention, not just for its political significance but also due to recent developments in Bihar.

The state witnessed the JD(U), a former ally in the INDIA bloc, severing ties with Opposition parties and aligning itself with the BJP, reviving old alliances.

The timing of Krishnam’s criticism coincides with the evolving political landscape, raising questions about the Congress party’s strategic focus and preparedness for the upcoming elections.

As the Yatra advances through various states, its impact on public opinion and the political narrative remains to be seen.

While Rahul Gandhi’s efforts to connect with the masses through the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra are evident, internal critiques from within the Congress party add a layer of complexity to the ongoing political developments.

As the political landscape continues to shift, the dynamics between parties and their strategies for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be closely scrutinized by both observers and the electorate.
