Covid Gone: Tourists are Welcome says Assam after Meghalaya and Sikkim

Guwahati, September 28: Assam government is making efforts to revive the Covid-hit tourists industry by lifting restrictions from November 1 as the pandemic situation in the state has considerably improved. This comes after the Meghalaya government allows tourist destinations to open from September 1, 2021.

While addressing a state government programeghalame on the occasion of World Tourism Day, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a relief package that will provide Rs two lakh each to 142 tour operators and Rs 25,000 each to 605 guides to overcome losses due to the pandemic.

CM hoped that Covid would no longer be able to threaten the lives and livelihood of people around the world from 2022, and the tourism industry is expected to witness a major boost.

Earlier, the Assam government decided to open Kaziranga National Park to visitors and tourists from October 1 after COVID-19 cases have fallen in the state.

Sarma has informed that the government has been trying to unlock COVID-19 restrictions completely to resume normal economic activities in the state. A 15-kilometers has been opened for tourists at Bagcher Hills in the National Park.

Meghalaya open for tourists from September 1st

Meghalaya government allows tourist destinations to open from September 1.

While announcing the news, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma stated that all tourist destinations would open for tourists from other States. Only those who are vaccinated with double dose and others with a negative RTPCR report taken 72 hours before it will be allowed. All details of the stay and other itineraries of the visit should be disclosed to the authorities.

Sikkim allows fully vaccinated tourists to enter the state from 5th July

Sikkim government has already allowed the People who have taken both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to visit the state from 5th July. The Sikkim government had prohibited the entry of tourists since March this year following a surge in Covid-19 cases.

The notice state that the fully vaccinated tourists can enter the Himalayan state through Rangpo in East Sikkim and Melli in South Sikkim after exhibiting their vaccination certificates at the border check-gates.

After this on 4th September, the Sikkim Government has issued new guidelines for the containment of COVID-19 in the state. According to an order, new containment measures will be strictly implemented in Sikkim with effect from September 6-13.

The order informs about tourist vaccination updates and the entry of vehicles and persons from Rangpo and Melli check-posts regulations.
