Gangtok, Dec 09: The 14th Dalai Lama, the revered spiritual leader of Tibet, has commenced his visit to Sikkim and West Bengal. Scheduled from December 12 to 14, the visit holds significance, with diplomatic discussions arising amid the ongoing border tension between India and China.

During this tour, the Dalai Lama is set to deliver teachings in Gangtok, located approximately 50 kilometers from the China border.

At the request of the Sikkim State Government, the Dalai Lama will impart teachings on Gyalsey Thokme Sanpo’s 37 practices of a Bodhisattva at Paljor Stadium. This location adds a layer of geopolitical sensitivity given its proximity to the border with China. The teachings are expected to attract followers and spiritual enthusiasts from various regions.

Subsequently, the spiritual leader will proceed to Salugara, West Bengal, on December 14, where he will deliver a general teaching and oversee the ceremony for the generation of Bodhicitta (semkye) at Sed-Gyued Monastery. The Dalai Lama’s teachings hold deep spiritual and philosophical significance for his followers, promoting principles of compassion, wisdom, and enlightenment.
