Itanagar, Feb 19: Efforts are underway to locate three miners from Assam who were reportedly abducted by militants in Arunachal Pradesh, as confirmed by police authorities on Monday.

The incident occurred in Febru Basti, located in the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, where suspected militants kidnapped at least three miners on Sunday, as reported by Tinsukia police.

A senior officer mentioned that joint operations involving police forces and Assam Rifles are currently in progress, with further details to be provided later.

The abducted individuals have been identified as Gyan Thapa, Lekhan Bora, and Chandan Narzari. However, the exact number of individuals taken remains unclear, stated Tinsukia Superintendent of Police Abhijit Gaurav.

The circumstances surrounding the abduction, including whether the miners were involved in illegal mining activities, have not been conclusively determined.

Reports from Arunachal Pradesh suggest that workers at a coal mine in the Febru Basti area of Changlang district were taken captive by suspected militants affiliated with ULFA (I) and NSCN.
