Kohima, July 12: The state of Nagaland witnessed the inauguration of the First Summer Badminton Coaching Camp, a collaborative effort between Abeio Kire & Angam Shaiza and Padukone Sports Management Pvt Ltd, Bangalore.

The event was graced by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who expressed his appreciation for the legendary Indian badminton player, Prakash Padukone, and his commitment to training young badminton enthusiasts. The camp aims to provide intensive coaching for the next 30 days, nurturing the participants’ skills and fostering their journey toward professional excellence.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, addressing the gathering as a special guest, lauded Prakash Padukone for his contribution to Indian badminton. Rio acknowledged that Padukone’s achievements have inspired numerous young badminton enthusiasts, and through the coaching camps organized by his company, he continues to produce champions.

Rio expressed his optimism that the participants of the camp would gain valuable knowledge and skills over the next month, transforming them into professionals in the field of badminton.

While acknowledging the challenges that Nagaland has faced in prioritizing sports, Rio affirmed that the state is now taking sports seriously. He expressed his hope that the summer coaching camp would instill a greater sense of dedication and passion for badminton among young players in Nagaland.

As the guest of honor, Prakash Padukone expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality he received in Nagaland. He commended the impressive turnout at the coaching camp, which showcased the popularity of badminton in the region.

Padukone shared his long-felt desire to contribute to the Northeast and emphasized that the coaching initiative was just the beginning of his efforts.

He highlighted the unique opportunity provided by the availability of six courts at a single venue, which would aid in identifying and nurturing the best badminton talents. The month-long summer badminton coaching camp will be conducted by two renowned coaches, Indonesian coach Djoko Sulistijo and Indian coach Arush Kumar. With their expertise and guidance, the participants will receive comprehensive training aimed at enhancing their badminton skills and knowledge.
