Guwahati, April 28: Amidst escalating water levels and treacherous conditions in the Brahmaputra River, the Inland Water Transport (IWT) department has imposed temporary restrictions on ferry services connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati.

The move comes as a response to the heightened risks posed by strong currents, submerged debris, and rising water levels triggered by heavy rainfall on April 27.

Furthermore, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued forecasts predicting further rainfall in the coming days, with heavy storms anticipated across the northeastern states.

These weather predictions underscore the necessity for heightened vigilance and precautionary measures to safeguard both passengers and vessels navigating the turbulent waters of the Brahmaputra River.
