Chandigarh, Feb 23: Amidst the ongoing farmers’ protest in Ambala district, the Haryana Police reported two casualties and over 30 injuries among police officials. The clashes occurred as farmers attempted to dismantle barriers erected as part of the ‘Dilli Chalo’ march.

According to a press release issued by the Ambala Police, protesters engaged in stone-throwing, destruction of public property, and attempts to disrupt peace.

These confrontations resulted in injuries to approximately 30 officers, including one with a brain haemorrhage, and the loss of two lives.

The police expressed concern over the use of social media platforms by some farm leaders to spread provocative content aimed at disturbing harmony.

In response to the damages incurred during the protests, the Haryana Police announced proceedings to seek compensation from farm leaders for damage to government property.

The farmers’ protest, which commenced on February 13, was briefly suspended after a protester was killed and several police personnel were injured in clashes at Khanauri.

Farmer leaders are expected to decide on the next course of action on Friday evening.
