Silchar, May 28: Heavy rainfall on May 28 resulted in the closure of the Haflong-Silchar link road due to severe damage caused in Assam’s Dima Hasao district.
Rising water levels of the river washed away a significant portion of the road, prompting the district administration to shut down the Haflong-Silchar connecting road until June 1.

The adverse weather conditions claimed one life and left 17 others injured from strong winds and heavy rains across various parts of the state.
In response to the inclement weather and the Cyclone Remal warning issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the Mizoram state government ordered the closure of all government offices on May 28.
Recent weather forecasts indicate that Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim may experience intense rainfall, posing risks of flooding and landslides.
