Guwahati, April 15: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a scathing attack on the Congress party during an election campaign in Borpukhuri under the Kaziranga constituency.
He criticized the Congress for its alleged lack of development initiatives in the Kaziranga constituency and expressed doubt about the party’s chances of winning in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Sarma asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and governance were instrumental in driving development across the country.
He likened Modi to effective medicine, claiming that his policies and initiatives were addressing the nation’s challenges effectively.
In contrast, Sarma portrayed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as an ineffective remedy, suggesting that his leadership could not bring about positive change.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of voting for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming elections, asserting that doing so would contribute to the country’s progress.

He dismissed the Congress candidate in the Kaziranga constituency as “useless” and claimed that the party stood no chance of winning the elections.
Sarma also highlighted the success of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Assam, a flagship drinking water program initiated by the Modi government.
He praised the state’s achievement of over 75% of the program’s target, showcasing the effectiveness of the initiative in providing clean drinking water to the people of Assam.
The electoral showdown in the Kaziranga constituency is scheduled for April 19, with BJP’s Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and Congress’ Roselina Tirkey as the primary contenders.
The constituency encompasses various areas, including Kaliabor, Barhampur, Binnakandi, Hojai, Lumding, Golaghat, Dergaon, Khumtai, Bokakhat, and Sarupathar.
However, recent changes have resulted in the inclusion of four seats previously part of Kaliabor in the Nagaon constituency.
