Guwahati, March 31: Law enforcement authorities in Mankachar recently detained an illegal Bangladeshi national, Osama Bin Hasan Sajib, residing in the area for eight months.
Sajib, from Veluya village in Sherpur district, Bangladesh, was found at Khalilur Miah’s residence in Jhanjhani village, Mankachar.
Having entered Mankachar via the border in Mahendraganj, Meghalaya, Sajib engaged in healing practices locally and across Meghalaya.
Acting on information from the local Village Defense Party (VDP), Mankachar Police arrested Sajib and Miah on Saturday.
An alarming revelation surfaced as authorities uncovered Miah and his son’s scheme to procure an Indian identity card for Sajib illicitly.

Mofidul Islam, Miah’s son, remains at large.
