Weather Update, May 19: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast of widespread rainfall across the North Eastern states in the upcoming days.

Over the next five days, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, covering Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

This prediction coincides with the persistence of a cyclonic circulation over North East Assam and its surrounding areas in the lower tropospheric levels.

The IMD has specified that the cyclonic circulation is positioned over northeast Assam and its vicinity, located between 1.5 km and 2.1 km above mean sea level.
