Weather Update, June 29: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rainfall in parts of Assam and Meghalaya on June 29.

  • Places likely to be affected in Assam include Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Dhubri, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup Metropolitan, Kokrajhar, and Nalbari.
  • The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) predicts Guwahati will experience cloudy skies with rain and thundershowers.
  • The IMD also forecasts very heavy rain over Meghalaya on June 29 and the following days.

Additionally, the IMD mentioned a cyclonic circulation over east Assam, extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level, and a low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal off the north Odisha coast.
