Itanagar, March 04: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh on March 9, the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) is ramping up efforts to enhance infrastructure and maintain sanitation in the capital city.

Mayor Tamme Phassang has urged residents to actively participate in cleanliness initiatives to ensure a welcoming environment for the Prime Minister’s visit.

Despite areas like Chimpu and the Airport zone of Holongi falling outside IMC’s jurisdiction, the corporation is taking measures to ensure cleanliness and hygiene in these areas.

Mayor Phassang commended the relentless efforts of IMC’s machinery, working round-the-clock to uphold cleanliness standards and eliminate garbage.

In a recent development, Mayor Phassang, along with corporators, inaugurated the improvement of internal roads at Yawn Colony in G Sector Naharlagun, demonstrating IMC’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure.

Mayor Phassang highlighted ongoing developmental projects funded by IMC, including a significant investment of 7 crore rupees towards a school in Ward No. 16, awaiting official inauguration.

Expressing gratitude to the BJP high command for awarding party tickets to two sitting MPs, Mayor Phassang emphasized the importance of electing BJP representatives to support Prime Minister Modi.

Corporator Tarh Achak underscored the collaborative efforts between IMC and the Public Works Department (PWD) in initiating infrastructural projects like the concrete cement road in Yawn Colony.

IMC’s new Deputy Commissioner, IAS Shweta Nagarkoti, has called for intensified cleanliness drives ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit. IMC promptly mobilized machinery, including JCBs and dumpers, to launch a comprehensive garbage-free clean drive across the city.

Corporator Tarh Achak reaffirmed the unwavering support of all 20 IMC corporators for the BJP candidate, emphasizing their collective commitment to elect BJP MLAs from Itanagar.
