Commencing from Nute Kailhang in Kangpokpi District headquarters, the rally proceeded towards the uptown Kangpokpi bridge near SP Kangpokpi office via National Highway-2, with thousands of Kuki-Zo participants chanting slogans such as “Democracy not Autocracy” and “Re-impose AFSPA in the valley.”

The rally concluded peacefully under the vigilant monitoring of Kangpokpi police, ensuring the prevention of any untoward incidents.

Concurrently, CoTU enforced a 24-hour total shutdown across Sadar Hills Kangpokpi district in protest against the state assembly’s resolution and to advocate for the re-imposition of AFSPA in the valley.

During a media address, CoTU’s Spokesperson, Kaiminlen Sitlhou, condemned the assembly’s resolution as communal and one-sided, alleging the misuse of state institutions to misguide the public.

He emphasized the need for AFSPA in valley districts, likening it to the necessity of the SoO in the hills.

Sitlhou urged the valley populace not to be misled by political tactics and reiterated the demand for AFSPA reinstatement, citing its potential to curb terrorism and restore constitutional order in the Imphal valley.
