Shillong, Aug 15: Meghalaya’s tourism sector received a significant boost with the launch of its autumn tourism calendar, unveiled on August 14 by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh during a conclave with local stakeholders.

A major highlight is the partnership with Japan for the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival, set for November 15-16.

The collaboration was inspired by the Japanese Ambassador’s visit last year, where he noted the resemblance between Meghalaya’s cherry blossoms and those in Japan.

The festival will feature a Japan Zone, offering insights into Japanese culture.

Other key events include the Shillong Literary Festival (November 12-14), Me’gong Festival (November 29-30), The Hills Festival (December 6-7), Bryan Adams India Tour (December 10), and Winter Tales (December 12-14). This diverse lineup is designed to attract tourists and invigorate the state’s tourism industry.
