New Delhi, March 30: Kalpana Soren, the wife of jailed former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, paid a visit to Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, at their residence in the national capital on Saturday.

This meeting comes amidst Arvind Kejriwal’s custody by the Enforcement Directorate in the Delhi liquor policy case.

Expressing solidarity, Kalpana Soren extended support to Sunita Kejriwal during their meeting at the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence.

Following their interaction, Delhi minister Atishi shared a video of their encounter on social media platform X, highlighting the strength of these two women in the face of adversity.

In her tweet, Atishi emphasized that the BJP should be wary witnessing the resilience displayed by these women, who refused to succumb to the pressure exerted by central agencies against their husbands, both former chief ministers of democratically elected governments.

Kalpana Soren had previously spoken with Sunita Kejriwal following Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate. She expressed empathy towards Sunita’s situation, understanding the challenges faced by her family. Stressing on the unusual circumstances surrounding the arrests of popularly elected chief ministers during the general election season, Kalpana reiterated Jharkhand’s unwavering support for Kejriwal under Hemant Soren’s leadership.

Hemant Soren, the working president of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in February over an alleged land scam case.

His judicial custody has been extended till April 4. Similarly, Arvind Kejriwal’s custody has been extended until April 1 by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court.

During a court hearing on March 28, Arvind Kejriwal accused the Enforcement Directorate of attempting to crush the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and orchestrating an extortion racket under the guise of the liquor policy case.

Kejriwal maintained that his arrest lacked substantial grounds and was part of a larger conspiracy aimed at undermining his political standing.
