Chandigarh, April 23: According to sources, after a month-long chase, Waris Punjab De leader and Khalistan sympathiser, Amritpal Singh, surrendered before the Punjab police and was arrested from Moga district on Sunday morning.

A senior police official confirmed the arrest and added that Singh is being transferred to Assam’s Dibrugarh jail, where other members of his outfit are already lodged.

Amritpal Singh had been on the run since March 18 and was arrested from the Gurdwara Janam Asthan Sant Khalsa of Rode village in Moga, which happens to be the native village of slain militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

Earlier, the Punjab Police had launched a major crackdown on Amritpal Singh and members of his ‘Waris Punjab De’ outfit.
