Kolkata, April 20: The scorching heatwave gripping southern West Bengal has prompted the Meteorological Department to issue warnings of escalating temperatures in the coming days.
Kolkata, particularly, is expected to endure soaring temperatures, with the mercury likely to surpass 40 degrees Celsius in the next 2-3 days.
On Friday, Kolkata recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius coupled with 89% humidity. Meteorological officials anticipate a further rise in temperatures by one to three degrees Celsius over the next few days.
However, they project no significant changes thereafter across Gangetic West Bengal.
