Imphal, Jan 15: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has taken a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, characterizing the cross-country rally led by Gandhi as not ‘Bharat Jodo’ but rather a ‘Bharat Todo’ yatra.

Responding to media inquiries about Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, the Manipur Chief Minister expressed that the current time is not conducive for conducting a rally in Manipur and engaging in politics.

Rahul Gandhi, along with other Congress leaders, commenced the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Manipur’s Thoubal on January 14.

The event, attended by various national and regional Congress leaders, featured Rahul Gandhi inaugurating the yatra while criticizing the BJP government for the prevailing scenario in the state.

During the gathering, Rahul Gandhi discussed the situation in Manipur, emphasizing the challenges witnessed during his visit amidst the troubled circumstances.

“I’ve been in politics since 2004, and for the first time, I visited a place in India where the entire infrastructure of governance has collapsed. After 29th June, Manipur wasn’t Manipur anymore; it got divided, and hatred was spread everywhere. Lakhs of people suffered losses. People lost their loved ones in front of their eyes. And till now, the Indian PM has not come here to wipe your tears and hold your hand. It is a shameful thing. Maybe for PM Modi, BJP, and RSS, Manipur is not a part of India,” said Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi also characterized Manipur today as a symbol of BJP’s hate politics.

“Manipur is a symbol of BJP’s politics; Manipur is a symbol of BJP and RSS’s hatred. Manipur is a symbol of BJP’s viewpoint and ideology,” emphasized the Congress leader.

As part of the campaign, Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders are utilizing a hybrid mode of travel, incorporating buses for long segments of the journey due to time constraints imposed by the upcoming general election and health concerns of the party’s elderly leaders.
