Imphal, April 05: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh received a death threat from Moirangthem T. Nongshaba, an intending MP candidate for Inner Manipur, sparking controversy and prompting police action.
Nongshaba’s inflammatory remarks were made during a live TV show on April 2, where he stated, “Until Biren resigns or dies, Manipur will always suffer. Instead of waiting for him to die, I might as well kill him.”
Following these comments, the Imphal West Police summoned Nongshaba for questioning. The police notice, dated April 4, required Nongshaba to appear at the Imphal Police Station by 11 am on the same day.
Non-compliance with the summons could result in his arrest under relevant sections of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
