Imphal, Jan 21: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has called on the central forces to take the ongoing crisis in the state seriously and protect the lives and property of its citizens.

Speaking at the 52nd Statehood Day observance ceremony on January 22 at 1st MR Parade Ground, Singh expressed deep concern about the recent spate of killings in Manipur, describing the situation as “very unfortunate.”

He stressed that the primary responsibility of security forces is to prevent harm, safeguard lives and property, and uphold state and national integrity.

Singh urged the security forces to focus on these issues to protect innocent lives and maintain territorial integrity.

In response to a viral video related to the Ningthoukhong murder case allegedly involving Kuki militants and protected by central forces, Singh stated that the state government is investigating the video to determine its authenticity.

The Chief Minister strongly condemned the recent brutal killing incidents in Haotak and Ningthoukhong, labeling the targeting of innocent civilians as a cowardly act.

Reflecting on the Statehood ceremony, he expressed pride in Manipur’s status as a state since 1972 but noted concerns about elements attempting to divide the state.

As part of the ceremony, various contingents performed a march past, with the attendance of MLAs, ministers, and high-ranking officials.
