Manipur Imphal

Imphal, May 18: Amid the ongoing tensions in Manipur, the crucial supply lines to the Imphal Valley were severely disrupted due to roadblocks and the prevailing fear among transporters. This led to a critical shortage of essential supplies in the state, prompting swift action from the Indian Army and Assam Rifles to address the situation.

According to the Indian Army, on 15th May, a convoy of 28 vehicles, including trucks, fuel tankers, and JCBs loaded with rice, sugar, pulses, and fuel, embarked on a journey from Noney to Imphal under the protection of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Manipur Police.

Assam Rifles ensured the prophylactic domination of the area, guaranteeing a safe passage for the convoy. By afternoon, the convoy successfully reached Imphal, thanks to the combined efforts of the security forces and their monitoring through unmanned aerial vehicles.

Building on this success, approximately 100 vehicles were further moved on the 16th and 17th of May. The Indian Army and Assam Rifles remain dedicated to restoring normalcy in Manipur, and the resumption of vehicular movement on National Highway 37 is seen as another positive step towards achieving this goal.
