Manipur Elections

1. Voting commenced at 7 am in both Lok Sabha constituencies in Manipur.
2. The election in Manipur spans from 7 am to 4 pm.
3. All 32 Assembly constituencies in Inner Manipur and 15 in Outer Manipur (ST) participated in Friday’s polls.


Imphal, April 19: The voting process in both the Lok Sabha Elections in Manipur started at 7 am on Friday. Election in Manipur starts at 7 am and will continue till 4 pm.

All 32 Assembly constituencies in Inner Manipur and 15 Assembly constituencies in Outer Manipur (ST) constituencies went to polls on Friday.

A complete of 15,44,652 electors, along with 7, 41,849 male, 8,02,557 female and 246 transgender, are expected to exercise their franchise in the first phase.

There are a total of 2107 polling stations, including four P-3 polling stations and 96 P-2 polling stations.

Some 645 polling stations were manned by female polling officers and two polling stations were manned by all disabled polling officers.

Additionally, 85 polling stations have been set up for internal voters in Manipur Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Tubal, Kakchin, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi.

A total of 18,091 local voters will exercise their right to vote in their ballot boxes. While he contested from Manipur Assembly constituencies, four candidates contested from Outer Manipur (ST) constituencies.

Security was ensured by the deployment of Central Armed Police forces at all polling stations.

Provisions for pick up and drop facilities for PwDs and aged electors have also been made available along with wheelchair facilities.

A total of 11,582 disabled voters and 289 centenarian voters will exercise their right to vote. There are two volunteers at each ballot box to assist voters.

Polling stations were set up and Local Health Workers (ASHA) were deployed at all polling stations to provide emergency medical care to voters. Anganwadi workers help pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. First aid kits are also available at all polling stations.

The strength of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) can be monitored with the help of the e-Traccar application installed on the mobile phones of all voting staff and officers.

Use of cellular phones, cordless phones are not allowed.Campaign-related posters or advertisements are not allowed within 100 meters of the election centers. Candidates are also asked not to set up polling stations within 200 meters of polling places.
Use of loudspeakers within the 100 metre is strictly prohibited.

The citizens were requested to produce their Election photograph identity Card (EPIC) for identity at the polling stations before casting their votes.

The voters who will no longer be able to produce EPIC were asked to supply one of the 12 alternative identity documents for establishing their identity.
