Meghalaya elections result

Shillong, March 02: The counting of votes cast in the recently-held Assembly elections in Meghalaya will take place and the result will announce on Thursday. According to poll officials, the counting of votes for the Meghalaya Election will take place under three-tier security measures. As a precautionary measure, Section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed in and around all the locations of the counting centres.

  • As of 6:30 pm, the NPP has won 21 seats in 59-seat Assembly in Meghalaya, while the UDP had bagged 11 seats so far. The TMC and Congress have won 5 seats each, while the Voice of the People Party has won 4. Two Independent candidates have also secured victories in two seats, while the HSPDP has bagged 2. The BJP has won 2 seats as of now.
  • As of 5:30 pm, the NPP has won 19 seats in 59-seat Assembly in Meghalaya, while the UDP had bagged 11 seats so far. The TMC and Congress have won 4 and 5 seats respectively, while the Voice of the People Party has won 4. Two Independent candidates have also secured victories in two seats, while the HSPDP has bagged 2.The BJP has won 2 seats and leads in 1 seat as of now.
  • As of 4:50 pm, the NPP has won 17 seats in 60-seat Assembly in Meghalaya, while the UDP had bagged 10 seats so far. The TMC and Congress have won 3 and 4 seats respectively, while the Voice of the People Party has won 4. Two Independent candidates have also secured victories in two seats, while the HSPDP has bagged 2.The BJP has won 1 seat as of now.

  • Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma defeated BJP’s Bernard Marak and won the South Tura constituency with 10,090 votes, the Election Commission announced on Thursday.
  • BJP Meghalaya leader Sanbor Shullai said that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will take a call on an alliance with the state’s ruling National People’s Party (NPP). He also commented that whether the BJP would support the NPP-led government and be a constituent will be decided by the Assam Chief Minister.
  • National People’s Party’s Comingone Ymbon won Raliang’s seat with 13,626 votes. He defeated BJP’s Lakhon Biam.
  • Celebrations have begun at CM Conrad Sangma’s residence in Tura as his party inched closer to the majority of 31 seats. As per the latest trends, the ruling NPP is leading in 25 setas and has officially clinched its first seats after its candidate Sniawbhalang Dhar won the Nartiang Seat.
  • NPP candidate Sniawbhalang Dhar has bagged the Nartiang Assembly constituency by a margin of 2,123 votes, defeating Congress candidate Emlang Laloo. CM Conrad Sangma’s ruling party NPP is slowly inching closer to the halfway mark in Meghalaya.

  • Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma is leading in the South Tura constituency by a narrow margin of 44 votes against his nearest rival Bernard N Marak of BJP, as per the latest EC trends.
  • As per the ECI, Meghalaya BJP chief Ernest Mawrie is trailing from the West Shillong seat as Paul Lyngdoh from UDP leads in the constituency. Meghalaya deputy CM Prestone Tynsong is leading by 1,072 votes in the Pynursla assembly constituency against Congress candidate Nehru Suting, who is trailing at the moment. Meghalaya Congress chief Vincent Pala is trailing from the Sutnga Saipung constituency seat, as per ECI. NPP’s Santa Mary Shylla has taken a lead here with over 43% vote share.

1. 3-tier security has been arranged with Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and State Armed police keeping vigil
