Shillong, Nov 15: Meghalaya’s Deputy Chief Minister and PWD in-charge, Prestone Tynsong, announced a probe into the Dawki-Amlarem-Jowai road project, citing concerns about substandard work by the Dhar construction company.

Tynsong emphasized zero tolerance for recklessness in project execution, stressing that this road segment falls under the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and is supervised by the RO Station from Guwahati.

The JAC, comprising traditional headmen of War Jaintia Hills and Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), expressed their intention to file a petition in the Meghalaya High Court, alleging corruption in the construction of Dawki-Amlarem-Jowai (NH 40E) (New NH 206), a project sanctioned by the Centre for Rs 43 crore.

Tynsong clarified that any decision on blacklisting would be made once the investigation process begins. He highlighted the direct involvement of the NHAI in this project, making them the sole controlling authority, not the state government. The Deputy Chief Minister affirmed that negligence in project execution, whether related to roads or other state projects, would not be tolerated in Meghalaya.
