As of August 13, the water level reached 3209.68 feet, leading officials to caution that releases might be necessary if heavy rainfall continues.

The Deputy Commissioner urged residents living downstream of the Umiam Dam to exercise heightened caution. The administration advises avoiding rivers and streams to prevent potential accidents.

Beyond the immediate water hazards, authorities have highlighted the risk of electrocution in the event of flooding, urging people to stay clear of electric poles and power lines.
