Shillong, April 16: With the polls looming, Meghalaya’s state election commissioner, BDR Tiwari, recently assessed the election readiness, acknowledging potential challenges.
In particular, Tiwari shed light on the unique difficulties posed by non-motorable polling stations in the Khasi Hills region, known for its rugged terrain and heavy rainfall.
Highlighting Meghalaya’s hilly terrain and inclement weather, Tiwari underscored the numerous obstacles faced by electoral authorities. Despite these challenges, Tiwari assured that preparations are in place to address them effectively.

Approximately 50 polling stations in the area are inaccessible by vehicles due to their non-motorable nature.
