Assam rainfall

1. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a special bulletin warning of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Assam over the next three to four days.
2. The forecast attributes the upcoming weather to moisture incursion by lower-level South Westerly winds from the Bay of Bengal to the North East region.
3. A yellow alert has been issued for 10 districts in Assam, indicating the possibility of widespread rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and isolated heavy rainfall.


Guwahati, Feb 07: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a special bulletin warning of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Assam over the next three to four days.

The forecast attributes the upcoming weather to moisture incursion by lower-level South Westerly winds from the Bay of Bengal to the Northeast region.

Assam is expected to experience widespread rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and isolated heavy rainfall, prompting the issuance of a yellow alert in 10 districts.

The districts under the alert include Morigaon, Nagaon, West Karbi Anglong, Hojai, Dhemaji, Charaideo, Tinsukia, Dima Hasao, Dibrugarh, and Karbi Anglong.

Additionally, residents should prepare for cold weather conditions and dense fog as a result of the anticipated rainfall.
