Imphal, April 27: In the early hours of Saturday, armed militants launched a deadly assault in the Naransena area of Manipur’s Bishnupur district, resulting in the tragic loss of two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, with two others sustaining injuries.

The attack occurred between midnight and 2:15 am, as militants targeted the CRPF’s 128 Battalion outpost.

The assailants indiscriminately fired upon the security forces from hilltops, initiating a sustained assault that lasted until the early hours.

Additionally, the militants hurled bombs, one of which detonated within the outpost, intensifying the chaos.

CRPF Sub-Inspector N. Sarkar and Head Constable Arup Saini were tragically killed in the attack, while Inspector Jadav Das and Constable Aftab Hussain sustained injuries, with both suffering splinter wounds during the assault.

The CRPF personnel were stationed to provide security to the India Reserve Battalion (IRBn) camp, highlighting the critical nature of their mission and the risks they face in safeguarding public safety.

Following the attack, law enforcement agencies launched an extensive search operation to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The incident underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by security personnel in conflict-prone regions like Manipur, where armed militant groups continue to pose a threat to peace and stability.
