Apart from the Sailam Bird Sanctuary, censuses were conducted at various locations including Mount Phawngpui, Mount Chalrang Hill, Kolasib district wetlands, Lawngtlai, and Pawlrang. The Sailam Bird Sanctuary, known for its rich biodiversity and previously documented over 270 bird species, faces threats from rapid urbanization and population growth.

Efforts to safeguard Mizoram’s unique biodiversity remain ongoing. Situated just 76 kilometers from Aizawl, Sailam serves as a significant habitat for diverse bird species, attracting ornithologists and researchers alike.

Additionally, the group’s involvement in the United Nations Environment Programme and the International Conference on Animal Sciences highlights Mizoram’s commitment to global conservation efforts.
