Mizoram reports 302 new COVID-19 cases, tally at 16,437

Mizoram, June 18: Mizoram reported 302 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the state’s coronavirus tally to 16,437, an official statement said on Friday.

The death toll in the state remains at 75.

The fresh cases were detected from 4,395 sample tests, and the single-day infection rate was at 6.8 per cent, he said.

Of the 302 fresh cases, Aizawl district reported the highest at 24, followed by Lawngtlai at (33), Lunglei (23), Khawzawl (9), Kolasib (8), Mamit (3) and Hnahthial district (2).

At least 109 cases were confirmed at an RT-PCR laboratory in Zoram Medical College (ZMC), while 183 cases were detected through Rapid Antigen Test and the remaining 10 cases were detected through TrueNat tests, he said.

As many as 174 patients have developed symptoms of COVID-19, while 126 are asymptomatic and reports of the remaining two patients are awaited, he added.

Mizoram now has a tally of 3,732 active cases, and 12,630 people have recovered from the disease.

The state has conducted 4,46,717 sample tests for COVID-19 to date.
