Mizoram reports its first COVID19 related death

Mizoram, 28th October: Mizoram on Wednesday has registered its first COVID19 related death.

A 62-years-old person with existing co-morbidities was undergoing treatment at Zoram Medical College in Aiawal in past 10 days and he succumbed to the deadly virus on Wednesday.

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga tweeted – “#Mizoram records our first COVID-19 related mortality, a 62-years-old with existing co-morbidities; undergoing treatment at Zoram Medical College. We are shocked, pained and will continue putting up our guards against this pandemic.

Mizoram has so far registered 2607 positive cases for COVID-19 and out of these 2233 patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals.

In last 24 hours, the state has registered 80 new COVID-19 positive cases including 27 school students, 11 Indian army personnel and one personnel of Mizoram Armed Police (MAP).

In view of rising the COVID-19 positive cases, the Mizoram government has imposed a weeklong lockdown at Aizawl Municipal Council (AMC) area and it started from October 27.
