Aizawl, Sep 12: President Droupadi Murmu awarded the National Florence Nightingale Awards 2024 to 15 distinguished nursing professionals, including H Mankimi from Serchhip, Mizoram. The ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan, recognizing these nurses for their exceptional commitment to healthcare and community service.
H Mankimi, who currently serves as the Ward Superintendent at Serchhip District Hospital, was honored for her dedication and significant contributions to healthcare in Mizoram.
The award highlights her unwavering commitment to public health and patient care, setting a high standard in the nursing field.
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel, and other dignitaries attended the event.

Nadda commended the awardees, emphasizing that “nurses are the backbone of the healthcare sector” and expressed hope that the recognition would motivate continued excellence in their service.
Instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in 1973, the National Florence Nightingale Award honors outstanding nursing professionals across various sectors, including hospitals, communities, and educational settings.
Each awardee receives a Certificate of Merit, a Cash Award of Rs. 1,00,000, and a medal.
This year’s awards celebrated 15 nurses from diverse categories, including Registered Auxiliary Nurses & Midwives, Registered Nurses & Midwives, and Registered Lady Visitors, acknowledging their vital role in India’s healthcare system.
