Imphal, Feb 16: A tumultuous event unfolded in Manipur as approximately 400 individuals made an audacious attempt to storm the Churachandpur SP office.

This incident came in the wake of the suspension of a head constable from the district police force, following his alleged association with armed individuals captured in a viral video.

The Manipur Police swiftly responded to the escalating situation, deploying security forces, including the Rapid Action Force (RAF), to contain the unruly mob.

Tear gas shells were utilized as part of the efforts to restore order, with authorities closely monitoring the developments.

The suspended head constable, Siamlalpaul, found himself swiftly placed under suspension by Churachandpur SP Shivanand Surve, pending further investigation into his apparent involvement with armed individuals, as depicted in the widely circulated video.

The video purportedly showed him in the company of armed men, alongside village volunteers, raising concerns about his conduct and affiliations.

In a related development, Manipur Police made significant strides in addressing a separate incident involving the looting of arms from the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) camp located at Chingarel in Imphal East district.

Six individuals were apprehended by the police in connection with the arms looting case and subsequently remanded into police custody by a judicial magistrate.

The successful operation led to the recovery of four Insas rifles, one AK Ghatak, two magazines of SLR, and 16 small boxes of 9mm ammunition, believed to have been looted from the IRB camp.

Manipur Police, through their diligent efforts, managed to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen weaponry, contributing to the restoration of law and order in the region.
