Guwahati, Nov 25: Raosaheb Patil Danve, Minister of State of Railways, Coal & Mines held a review meeting with the General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway at Guwahati on Wednesday on various developmental works and the ongoing railway projects in the North-eastern region.

The meeting was also attended by the General Manager of N. F. Railway Construction Organization and other senior railway officials.

Anshul Gupta, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway was present during a discussion with the Minister on the overall performance of Northeast Frontier Railway (Open line) and day-to-day functioning pertaining to the operation of trains and development of passenger amenities in various states.

Sunil Sharma, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction Organization) along with senior railway officials from the construction organization also gave a presentation of the ongoing projects of Railway Construction in Northeast.

F. Railway is executing various new railway line projects for connecting the capitals of North-eastern states. The projects are in various stages of completion. Various issues related to the timely completion of these projects were discussed by all stakeholders during the review meeting.

Once the projects are completed, it will create a new mode of communication for the people of North-eastern states and will largely help in boosting the economy in these regions.

The Union Minister earlier on Monday inspected bridge and tunneling works of the Sivok- Rangpo new railway line project. Sikkim will be connected by the railway network through this project. The next day, the Minister inspected sites of the ongoing Dimapur – Kohima new railway line project that will connect the state capital of Nagaland. The line starts from Dhansiri station, which is about 18 km before Dimapur on the mainline in between Lumding and Dimapur. The new line will end at Zubza adjacent to Kohima. The Minister inspected the newly built Shokhuvi railway station, tunneling, and bridge works during his visit.

Raosaheb Patil Danve also inaugurated a 60 bedded AC Running room with modern facilities at Kamakya station on Tuesday. It has a veg/non-veg kitchen and separate rooms for ladies’ staff. He also interacted with the running staff.
