Aizawl, Nov 13: Myanmar army fighter jet dropped a bomb near the Mizoram border, heightening tensions in the region on November 13. Reports indicate that two bombs were released by the Myanmar Army jet fighters in close proximity to the Indian border.

The incident triggered intense firing between the Myanmar army and the Chinland Defence Force (CDF) near the Indo-Myanmar border, specifically 4 kilometers from Mizoram. Authorities have issued advisories urging residents near the Myanmar border, particularly around Zokhawthar, to remain indoors for their safety.

In the aftermath of this alarming event, the number of refugees seeking shelter in Mizoram has surged. Approximately 150 new refugees have crossed into Mizoram since the commencement of the firing yesterday. This influx adds to the existing challenges faced by both the displaced individuals and the authorities managing the situation.

Compounding the crisis, at least 17 individuals, either refugees or CDF fighters, have sustained injuries. These injured persons have sought refuge in Mizoram, with some being referred to the District Hospital in Champhai for medical attention. The escalation of violence near the border has not only led to a humanitarian crisis but has also strained local resources as they cope with the influx of people and the associated medical needs.

The evolving situation underscores the need for swift diplomatic interventions and international attention to address the escalating tensions and violence at the border. As the region witnesses increased displacement and casualties, concerted efforts are essential to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected populations and to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.
