Itanagar, May 04: Namsai town in Arunachal Pradesh has introduced Smart Electric Poles, featuring a range of utilities to enhance urban infrastructure.
These poles integrate essential services such as EV charging, CCTV surveillance, Emergency help buttons, and Weather Report screens, streamlining urban amenities.
According to MC Saikia, Junior Engineer of the Namsai Power department, these Smart street lights, also known as Smart Electric Poles, have been installed in three towns across Arunachal, with two more towns scheduled for similar installations.

Each pole is equipped with a 360-degree CCTV camera, an EV charging port for electric vehicles, an Air quality index viewer, a Weather report screen, and emergency sirens, providing comprehensive urban services.
Saikia addressed the issue of non-functional street lights in Namsai, attributing it to ongoing renovation and repair work of the town’s drainage system, which caused damage to some wires. He assured residents that the matter would be resolved promptly.
